Solution

The ideal diode in parallel with the source short-circuits whichever half-cycle forward-biases it. With the diode oriented as drawn, it conducts (acts like a wire) during the positive half-cycles of the source, clamping to zero. During the negative half-cycles the diode is reverse-biased (open), so the full negative sinusoid drops across , giving .

Hence shows only the negative humps of the input, matching the inverted half-wave shape.
