Solution

Interhalogens hydrolyse such that the less electronegative central halogen ends up bonded to oxygen in an oxoacid, whose conjugate base form is given by the question. The oxidation state of the central halogen in the starting interhalogen is preserved (loosely: number of / on the central atom equals the number of -bonds in the product oxoanion).

ICl (I in +1): ICl + HO HIO + HCl, conjugate base IO (hypoiodite).

ClF (Cl in +3): ClF + 2HO HClO + 3HF, conjugate base ClO (chlorite).

BrF (Br in +5): BrF + 3HO HBrO + 5HF, conjugate base BrO (bromate).
