JEE Main 2025 Apr 4 Shift 2, Physics Q19: Reflection at Plane and Spherical Surfaces
A finite size object is placed normal to the principal axis at a distance of 30 cm from a convex mirror of focal length 30 cm. A plane mirror is now placed in such a way that the image produced by both the mirrors coincide with each other. The distance between the two mirrors is :
- A
45 cm
- B
7.5 cm
- C
22.5 cm
- D
15 cm

For the convex mirror with cm and cm:
, so cm (image behind the convex mirror).
So the image formed by the convex mirror is 15 cm behind it, i.e. cm from the object.
A plane mirror produces an image at equal distance on its opposite side. For its image to coincide with the convex mirror's image at 45 cm from the object, the plane mirror must sit midway between the object and that image point at cm from the object.
Distance between the two mirrors cm.
