Solution

Using Mayer's relation in calorie units ( $R \approx 2$ cal/mol $^{\circ}$ C): $C_{V} = C_{P} - R = 8 - 2 = 6$ cal/mol $^{\circ}$ C.

$Δ U = n C_{V} Δ T = 5 \cdot 6 \cdot (20 - 10) = 300$ cal.
