Which of the following are true about the energy of the given $d$ -orbitals of a tetrahedral complex?

In a tetrahedral field, the splitting is inverted compared to octahedral: the $t_{2}$ set ( $d_{x y}, d_{y z}, d_{x z}$ ) lies higher in energy than the $e$ set ( $d_{x^{2} - y^{2}}, d_{z^{2}}$ ).

Within each set, the orbitals are degenerate. Checking each option:

B. $d_{x y} = d_{y z}$ ( $t_{2}$ ) $> d_{z^{2}}$ ( $e$ ). True.

C. $d_{x^{2} - y^{2}} > d_{z^{2}}$ is false because both are in the $e$ set and degenerate. False.

D. $d_{x^{2} - y^{2}} = d_{z^{2}}$ ( $e$ , degenerate) $< d_{x z}$ ( $t_{2}$ ). True.
