Solution

The position of the $n$ -th bright fringe is $y = nλ \frac{D}{d}$ .

For the same physical segment, $nλ$ is constant, so $n_{1} λ_{1} = n_{2} λ_{2}$ .

$8 \times 600 = n_{2} \times 400 \Rightarrow n_{2} = 12$ .
