If the vertical component of earth's magnetic field at that place is $2 \times 1 0^{- 5}$ T and electrical resistance of the coil is 12.56 $Ω$ , then the maximum induced current in the coil will be :

Solution

Peak EMF in a rotating coil: $E_{ma x} = N B A ω$ .

Area: $A = π (10)^{2} = 100 π$ m $^{2}$ .

$E_{ma x} = 1000 \times 2 \times 1 0^{- 5} \times 100 π \times 2 = 4 π \times 1 0^{- 1}$ V $\approx 12.56$ V.

Maximum current: $i_{ma x} = \frac{E _{ma x}}{R} = \frac{12.56}{12.56} = 1$ A.
