Solution

Balmer series: $\overset{ν}{ˉ} = R (\frac{1}{2 ^{2}} - \frac{1}{n ^{2}})$ for $n = 3, 4, 5, \dots$

$n = 3$ : $\overset{ν}{ˉ} = R (\frac{1}{4} - \frac{1}{9}) = \frac{5 R}{36}$

$n = 4$ : $\overset{ν}{ˉ} = R (\frac{1}{4} - \frac{1}{16}) = \frac{3 R}{16}$

$n = 5$ : $\overset{ν}{ˉ} = R (\frac{1}{4} - \frac{1}{25}) = \frac{21 R}{100}$

$∴$ Option (1) matches the Balmer series.
