For a first order reaction, $k = \frac{2.303}{t} lo g \frac{[ A ] _{0}}{[ A ] _{t}}$ .

$k = \frac{2.303}{5} lo g \frac{0.1}{0.001} = \frac{2.303}{5} lo g (100) = \frac{2.303 \times 2}{5} = \frac{4.606}{5} = 0.9212$ min $^{- 1}$ .
