(a) Mustard

(b) Gulmohar

(c) Cassia

(d) Datura

(e) Chilly

Choose the correct answer from the options given below :

  1. A

    (a), (b), and (c) Only

  2. B

    (b), (c) Only

  3. C

    (d), (e) Only

  4. D

    (c), (d), (e) Only

Solution

A flower is zygomorphic if it can be divided into two equal halves by only one vertical plane (bilateral symmetry).

Gulmohar and Cassia, members of the family Fabaceae (subfamily Caesalpinioideae), have zygomorphic flowers.

Mustard (Brassicaceae), Datura (Solanaceae), and chilli (Solanaceae) have actinomorphic (radially symmetrical) flowers.

So only (b) and (c) are zygomorphic.
