Myotonic dystrophy is the most common form of adult-onset muscular dystrophy. It is caused by a dominant mutation on an autosome and is inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern.

Sickle cell anaemia and thalassaemia are autosomal recessive disorders, while haemophilia is X-linked recessive.
