Solution

$g = \frac{GM}{R ^{2}}$ . Ratio: $\frac{g ^{'}}{g} = \frac{M ^{'} / M}{( R ^{'} / R ) ^{2}} = \frac{1/10}{( 1/2 ) ^{2}} = \frac{1/10}{1/4} = \frac{4}{10} = 0.4$ .

$g^{'} = 0.4 \times 9.8 = 3.92$ m/s $^{2}$ .
