If their maximum speeds are the same, the ratio $(A_{Q} / A_{P})$ of the amplitude $A_{Q}$ of mass $Q$ to the amplitude $A_{P}$ of mass $P$ is:

Solution

Maximum speed in SHM: $v_{ma x} = A ω$ , with $ω = k / m$ .

Equal max speeds: $A_{P} ω_{P} = A_{Q} ω_{Q} \Rightarrow A_{P} k_{1} / m = A_{Q} k_{2} / m$ .

$\frac{A _{Q}}{A _{P}} = \frac{k _{1}}{k _{2}}$ .
