In a concave lens, a ray of light emanating from the object parallel to the principal axis of the lens, after refraction :

passes through the second principal focus.

appears to diverge from the first principal focus.

passes through 2F, which is the radius of curvature of the lens.

emerges parallel to the principal axis.
For a parallel incident ray on a converging (convex) lens, the refracted ray passes through the second principal focus . For a diverging (concave) lens, the refracted ray appears to diverge from a focus on the same side as the incident light.
According to the NCERT convention, the focus on the side of the source is the first focus and on the other side is the second focus . Hence for a concave lens the parallel ray, after refraction, appears to come from (the focus on the far side).
