Solution

$T = 2 π l / g$ does not depend on mass.

With length halved: $T^{'} = 2 π l / (2 g) = \frac{T}{2}$ .

Set $\frac{x}{2} T = \frac{T}{2} \Rightarrow x = \frac{2}{2} = 2$ .
