Two p-n junction diodes $D_{1}$ and $D_{2}$ are connected as shown in figure. A and B are input signals and C is the output. The given circuit will function as a ____ .

Solution

If either input A or B is at 0 V (low), the corresponding diode becomes forward biased and current flows from $V_{d c}$ through $R$ to ground via that input. The output node $C$ is pulled down to roughly 0 V.

Only when both A and B are high (1) is neither diode forward biased; no current flows through $R$ , and $C$ sits at the supply voltage (high).

Truth table matches AND gate: output is high only when both inputs are high.
